The Ice Plex Hockey Facility, managed by Rink Management Services Corporation, has always been extremely concerned about all our participants’ safety in the facility. We regularly amend existing policies with quick decisive action for the betterment of the facility. Our goal to provide a fun, safe environment to participate in activities we operate, which is the key to our success.
On Thursday March 12th we met C.A.H.A officials to discuss the Tier 2 State Championships held at Escondido Ice Plex. After the initial call we conferred with National Governing Boards, reviewed the policies of all professional sports, and consulted with a risk management team. In addition, we looked at what has been going in our country.
We made the difficult decision to cancel our involvement in the tournament. It was a decision not made without careful consideration. Our primary concern was the safety of our customers, staff, participants in the event and the City of Escondido. The risk of holding an event during a COVID-19 pandemic was far too great.
The Ice Plex Hockey Facility is going to take another step and make a difficult decision by closing the facility down March 14, 2020.
We have been reviewing the Center for Disease Control website about the spread of the COVID-19

We will take the opportunity to deeply clean and disinfect the facility during our closure. We will continue to keep everyone informed, but we hope to complete the work in two weeks or less.
Due to the fluidity of the situation we will monitor health officials and continue to update the public on business practices at the appropriate times.
